There's no place like home (tap, tap, tap) There's no place ....
A couple of the DHOP-ers and I stopped by the Salem prayer room yesterday where they're having 30 days of 24/7 prayer. Oh, how I miss being in space dedicated to prayer. I'm so missing our little, drafty, DHOP - it had truly become a home away from home. The Lord knew what He was doing when He fashioned a Tabernacle to meet with His people in the midst of them. He knew that it was next to impossible to make our homes our sanctuaries. We need a place of demarcation where things are all about His glory. When I'm at home I can't focus and I'm so distracted with myself let alone the dialy chores and business of a household. Yet, I know the saints of old figured out a way, and those blasted Desert Father's never left their cells in devotion to Jesus (they also live a lot more simply then we do today hmmmmm) .I know now in the new covenant we are now the new tabernacles, but there is nothing like walking into a room that has pictures, prayers, and symbols on the walls that draw the eyes of our hearts to Jesus (the outdoors can do this as well). Our gaze needs to be directed/guided toward Him. There was something to the goal of the architects who designed the anchient catherdrals in hopes that it would cause us mere mortals to look up and aspire to the beauty and awe of God.
Oh, that this city would sit fit to have a place (many places) to encounter and meet with the Loving, Creator God. Where each of us clay pots, filled with His glory, could come and tabernacle with Him together. Oh, Lord have mercy on us, may we not miss the day of Your visitation.
