X-isting

Praise God it rained today - ALL DAY! I awoke to wonderful dark, cold, dreary, wet weather. If you're not from the NW of the USA you may not know that our weather for the last three months has been more like Southern CA. I've been late for everything 'cuz it seems more like 3P when it's actually closer to 6P. I've found myself saying quite frequently lately, "This is the nicest Summer we've had in years." Of course technically it's still Winter.

It has been hard on the true Oregonians - it's not natural. Usually we go thru a February-Funk that carries on into March and is only lifted by the first crocus sightings of Spring. Innately, it's good for us to go thru a seasonal despair, it's renewing. It gives way to the true joys of Spring. With the weather as it's been we've been too happy & upbeat, too prematurely. There's almost been a dread of what may come in August if the weather were to continue this way. Will we turn into Zombies because we've spent all our cheery energy 'cuz we're innately unable to sustain it for long periods of time.

My friend and I have been having an Scully & Mulder X-files fest as we've been making our way thru the first season of DVDs. Even with all the morose, foreboding and angst they are a poor substitute for the seasonal depression we should be crawling out of at this time of year. So now with this rain I know what to do and how to act. I'm happy to get my feet wet. I have my bearings back.

Truly, on a more serious note, we do Praise God. We were praying this week that the Lord would have mercy on our region in the form of rain. We need so much of HIS mercy beyond precipitation, but we're are very thankful for rain.

amen, sista'! the webbing between my fingers and toes was starting to go away. i just love being snug in my car at dusk with the rain pounding on the windshield as the warm air pumps, and there's something on the stereo i can sing along to at the top of my lungs! welcome back, raindrops.
